Hole in One Alert
Every golfer’s dream is to make a hole in one and on Saturday that dream came true for Pete Sawyer on the 18th hole. With a 5 iron in his hand, Pete hit a perfect shot and cheers could be heard from the balcony as it pitched in front of the hole and toppled in. In true style Pete made sure everyone in a busy bar was bought a drink!
Burns Night Supper
Ladies & Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking
I wish to thank everyone who turned up, resplendent in frocks and tartan, for the club’s Burn’s Supper. Over ninety people enjoyed the excellent fayre provided by Brian Sheridan and his team, humorous speeches by Jane Reid, Bob Cinnamon and Carol Barbour, followed by dancing to the music of legendary John Carmichael. Hopefully, this successful evening will kick start the social calendar and 2022 will get us back on track after the Covid hiatus.

After 32 years of playing golf Sally Pool has final joined the elusive hole in one club
Ripping a driver off the 7th tee Sally recorded her first ace, followed by some wild celebrations and drinks all round in the clubhouse.

What a Total
On Wednesday 6th October EHGC hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning…..and what a coffee morning it was!
From start to finish the bar was buzzing with members, friends, family and local residents enjoying the beautiful surrounds of EHGC and a feast of cakes.
The total raised was a whooping £1,470, thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended. Our thanks go to:
Days Bakery Buntingford , The Co-op Buntingford and Pearce’s Farm Shop for the kind cake donations.
Debbie Gibbs, Jean O’ Reilly and Moira Atkinson who gave up their time and worked tirelessly throughout the day.
To everyone from the local community and the members of East Herts Golf Club, who donated cakes and contributed to our amazing total.
Lastly, a special thank you to Lynn Dundas for making all this happen!

With promotion already guaranteed, our Ladies Scratch Team had their sights set on winning the League 2 play-off in the Ovaltine Scratch League last Sunday. Coming up against local rivals, Brickendon this amazing team came out 3&2 winners and will take up their rightful place with the scratch elite in League 1.

After 30 years at the club and in his 80’s Michael Light has finally bagged his first hole in one!!A sweetly struck 3 wood on the 15th hole in The Presidents Prize.
Congratulations and with a full clubhouse Michael made sure everyone got a drink…class act

Sunday the third of October, I took on the challenge of the London Marathon and was able to complete it and collect the precious medal. But what I would like to say is a massive thank you to the members of East Herts Golf Club who kindly donated to my just giving page. With all your help and kind donations we raised a fantastic amount of money meaning the east Anglian air ambulance are able to take flight for a further three flights and help save lives and make a difference. Again, I would like to say a massive thank you to the members for their generosity especially as I have only been a member for a short period of time. I now look forward to getting out and playing golf again.Shaun Whiter

Promotion for the Ladies Scratch A Team
Success stories for EHGC are coming thick and fast at the moment, this time it’s the turn of the Ladies Scratch A Team who have won promotion to Division 1
This is a fantastic achievement and not only will they be competing in the top flight next season, they will also be battling it out for more honours in the Ovaltine League Finals Day on Sunday 10th October at Old Fold Manor Golf Club.

When you talk about some of the greatest teams in the world you might think of The Chicago Bulls, The All Blacks, Barcelona………..but in this list of elite sporting teams you can now include the EHGC Tigers!
That’s right, our Tiger Team are victorious once again winning the Hertfordshire League, convincingly beating South Herts Golf Club in an epic final played out at Mid Herts. You may not know but this is their fifth title in 10 years and their reputation in the league has the opposition quaking at the prospect of being drawn against these mighty warriors.
Junior v Adult Ryder Cup
A big win for our awesome juniors in the Junior v Adult Ryder Cup competition! 23.5 points to 9.5A Ryder Cup gift for the juniors and lunch laid on by the club. Thanks to all those who participated and to Paul Vater for organising the day.
